A Rodo (colloquialism)
A Rodo is a modern mythological creature forged in the gym, sustained by egg whites, and whose religion is the glycemic index. He lives in a constant state of “definition” (both muscular and spiritual), and if you haven’t noticed… don’t worry, he’ll let you know. Loudly. Several times.
Unlike Willy, who acts without thinking, or Yeshua, who speaks without knowing, Rodo does think and does know… but only about one thing: his body. And he’ll remind you—even if you just asked him for the time. He may explode like a Víctor if you offer him bread, or dare to say the word “snack.”
Outrageously typical traits of a Rodo:
- He doesn’t walk—he poses. Every step is accompanied by a “check out my shoulders” stare.
- He measures rice in grams, water in pH, and friendship by whether or not you offer him creatine.
- He believes body fat is a spiritual illness.
- If you say “normal food,” he takes it as an insult—like a Yeshua being corrected with Wikipedia.
- He carries the gym in his bag, in his heart, and as his phone wallpaper.
- He can talk about his glutes for half an hour without the slightest shame.
- His most common phrase: “It’s not for aesthetics, it’s for health” (while photographing himself from a high angle with perfect lighting).
Example of usage
“We invited him for tacos and he replied it would ruin his anabolic cycle. Then he pulled out his container of steamed tilapia and explained his metabolism to us for an hour. Peak Rodo.”
Cultural note
A Rodo is what happens when you combine a Willy who found a dumbbell, a Yeshua who read two nutrition papers, and a Víctor staring into the gym mirror. His existence revolves around reps, protein, and unsolicited attention. But always, in the name of science and respect for the body (his own, of course).
